I’m Melina,
the pastry chef
behind Alegre.
I’m an Argentinian living in İzmir, and food has always been part of how I experience the world. Even during the years I worked in the aviation industry, my work remained connected to food and beverage — always somewhere in that universe.
Over time, baking slowly became the center of it all. Living abroad and traveling often has shaped the way I think about flavor. I’m endlessly curious about food, always inspired by what I discover along the way.
Pastry, for me, is a balance between precision and intuition. I’m drawn to simple combinations, good ingredients, and desserts made with intention — honest, unpretentious, and thoughtful in flavor and texture.
Alegre grew out of that approach: a cake studio focused on cakes that feel special without being excessive. Just pastry made with care.
